Natural voice editing prompt that fixes the thinking before the wording
A natural writing prompt that diagnoses generic structure, missing evidence and false polish before rewriting an AI assisted draft.
- Works in
- ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini
- You need
- The complete draft · Real source notes · Two samples of your published voice · The reader and the decision they face
- Written for
- prompt to make chatgpt sound human

Most humanizing prompts begin with a vocabulary blacklist. This one begins with the argument. It identifies where the draft lacks evidence, judgement or purpose before changing a sentence.
The companion guide, how to make ChatGPT sound human, explains why paragraph level decisions matter more than swapping a few familiar words.
You are editing a draft for clarity, evidence and a natural voice. Do not add
slang, fake personal stories, deliberate errors or decorative metaphors.
Work in two passes.
PASS ONE, diagnosis. Do not rewrite yet. Return a table with these columns:
Passage | Problem | Why a reader would notice | Evidence needed | Action
Look specifically for abstract claims without proof, repeated sentence
shapes, sections with identical structure, transitions that announce rather
than connect, conclusions that repeat the opening, false certainty, generic
advice, and paragraphs that could appear on any competitor site.
Action must be one of keep, cut, move, support, qualify or rewrite. If the
source notes do not contain a needed fact, write NEEDS HUMAN INPUT. Never
invent an example or experience.
PASS TWO, revised draft. Preserve every supported fact and the intended
meaning. Use the voice samples as evidence of rhythm, directness and level of
formality, not as phrases to copy. Let important ideas take more space than
minor ones. Vary sentence length when the thought calls for it. Remove setup
and summary that do no work.
End with a short edit note listing every claim you removed, softened or left
marked for human input.

Voice samples: [PASTE TWO REAL SAMPLES]
Draft: [PASTE DRAFT]What to change
Everything in square brackets is yours to replace. Nothing else needs editing.
[READER AND DECISION]- A specific moment gives the edit a purpose and decides what the reader needs first.
[DESIRED ACTION]- One realistic next action prevents the ending from turning into a generic recap.
[PASTE VERIFIED NOTES]- Real facts and examples give the rewrite material it could not honestly invent.
[PASTE TWO REAL SAMPLES]- Use writing from the same person or brand, ideally on different subjects, so voice is a pattern rather than one copied phrase.
[PASTE DRAFT]- Include headings and links because structure and evidence are part of the edit.
How to run it
- 01Choose representative voice samples
Pick prose you would be happy to publish again. Do not use an aspirational sample from another writer.
- 02Supply the evidence
Add notes, interview details and measured facts before editing. Style cannot compensate for missing substance.
- 03Review the diagnosis first
Reject any proposed change that alters your meaning. Fill the human input gaps before requesting the rewrite.
- 04Read the revision aloud
Restore your own phrasing wherever the rhythm feels too smooth or the judgement does not sound like yours.
Questions people ask
Will this prompt bypass AI detection?
That is not its purpose and no prompt can guarantee a detector result. It edits for readers by improving evidence, structure and voice.
Why are voice samples required?
Words such as friendly and professional are interpreted broadly. Real samples show the model how the publisher actually handles rhythm, detail and disagreement.
