How much does GEO cost?

Every figure below is a published price with the page it came from and the day it was read. Prices checked 5 August 2026.

Generative engine optimization costs $2,500 to $50,000 or more a month at an agency, with a median entry price of $5,000 a month across the 23 agencies whose prices are published anywhere. Cost guides put the usual mid market band at $2,000 to $10,000. Done for you plans here are $99, $299 and $799 a month, because the audit half of the work is automated rather than billed by the hour.

Why the gap is this wide

It is not a discount and it is not a smaller version of the same thing. A retainer at $5,000 a month is priced on human hours, and roughly half of those hours go into finding out what is wrong.

What an agency retainer pays for

  • The diagnostic. An analyst crawls the site by hand, checks schema, rendering, crawler access and Core Web Vitals, and writes it up. Days of senior time, repeated every reporting cycle.
  • The deck. A strategist turns the findings into a document, which is a second pass over work already done.
  • The delivery. Fixes, content, schema, mentions. The part that genuinely takes people.
  • The account layer. Calls, reporting, project management, and the margin that carries the pitch work they did for free to win you.

What that looks like here

  • The diagnostic is a function call. 36 checks against your live pages, in seconds, rerunnable by you at any time. It costs us an API call, so we charge nothing for it.
  • The deck is the report. Generated, dated and rerunnable, so there is nothing to assemble.
  • The delivery is what you actually pay for. $99 to $799 a month buys people doing the fixing, and that is the only line here with human hours in it.
  • No pitch tax. The audit we would have run for free to win you is the same audit you can run yourself right now, so nobody is recovering it in your first invoice.

The honest edge of this argument: at $799 a month you are buying fewer human hours than a $5,000 retainer buys. What you are not buying fewer of is measurements. If your problem is that nobody has ever told you what is wrong, the automated half is the half that was going to answer it.

Check the diagnostic half for nothing first

Every one of these runs on a live URL and needs no account for the first go. If a proposal you are reading charges for findings these produce in seconds, that is worth knowing before you sign it.

Rather do it by hand? Our prompt library has the same interrogations written for ChatGPT and Claude, including what GEO actually is, getting named in ChatGPT answers and a technical audit prompt. They are free too, and they are the honest version of the "do it yourself" option a cost page should offer.

How we got these numbers

Sample. Every agency named as a listed entry on a page that currently ranks for "best generative engine optimization agencies", "top answer engine optimization agencies" or a close variant, for which any source states a price. 23 agencies qualified.

Sources. Each row links the page its figure was read from. 4 are the agency's own published figure; the rest come from third party comparison posts, mainly TripleDart's seventeen agency table, Hamster Garage's AEO guide and Minuttia's GEO list.

Date. All figures read 5 August 2026. Prices in this category move, and a cost page without a read date is a cost page you cannot use.

What we left out. Tools and platforms, because the question is what an agency charges. Any figure we could not open a page and read for ourselves, including one range an earlier draft of our notes attributed to an agency whose site turned out to carry no price at all.

Corrections. If a price here is wrong about your agency, write to hello@visibility100x.com and we will change it and say we did. We would rather carry a correction note than a wrong number.

What buyers ask about GEO pricing

How much does generative engine optimization cost?

Agency retainers in this category run from $2,500 to $50,000 or more a month, with a median entry price of $5,000 across the 23 agencies whose figures are published anywhere. Cost guides in the category quote $1,500 to $50,000 a month depending on company size. Our own done for you plans are $99, $299 and $799 a month, and the software on its own starts at $24.

Why is your price so much lower than an agency retainer?

Because most of what a GEO retainer bills for is diagnostic work, and ours is automated. An agency analyst runs an audit by hand and a strategist assembles it into a deck; that is where the hours go, and hours are what a retainer prices. Our engine runs 36 checks against your live pages in seconds and produces the same findings, so the only thing left to pay a person for is the work of actually fixing them.

Do GEO agencies publish their prices?

Almost none of them. Of the 23 agencies in the table on this page, 4 state a figure about themselves anywhere on their own site, and even those state it in a blog post or a cost guide rather than on the service page a buyer lands on. Every other number comes from a competitor's comparison post, which is why two of them disagree by a factor of six about the same agency.

Is GEO usually sold as an add on to SEO or as its own retainer?

Both models are in the market. Most of the agencies here sell one retainer covering SEO, content and AI visibility together, priced from a few thousand a month. Writesonic is the one source that prices GEO as a layer on an existing SEO retainer, at $1,500 to $3,000 a month on top, plus $7,000 to $12,000 for a one off audit. The layered model is closer to how the work actually divides.

What should a GEO audit cost on its own?

A one off audit is quoted at $7,000 to $12,000 in the one published source that separates it out, and Digital Elevator sells a fixed scope 30 day AI Visibility program from $3,000. Ours is free and unlimited, on any URL, without an account for the first run. That is not a discount, it is the same diagnostic with the human hours taken out of it.

Are these prices going to move in 2027?

The direction to watch is not the headline retainer, it is what the retainer contains. The diagnostic half of this work is being automated across the category right now, which means the defensible part of an agency price is increasingly the delivery: the fixes, the content, the mentions. Expect published prices to hold and scope to shift, and expect more agencies to start publishing a number, because the first question every buyer asks is the one nobody answers.

How do I know what I actually need before I pay anyone?

Run the free audit on your own site first. It gives you an issue count, a score, and the specific findings any agency would open a proposal with, measured on your live pages rather than estimated. Take that to whoever you were going to hire, including us. A scope argued from measured problems is a better deal for you than one argued from a template.

Get the number for your own site first

You cannot price this work until you know how much of it there is. The audit gives you the issue count and the baseline in about a minute, free, and it is the same measurement any retainer on this page would start with.
