Why a Resource Page Deserves a Place on Your Website
Search engines and AI assistants do not assume that the “Visibility100x” on GitHub and the one on G2 are the same company. They resolve that with sameAs: a list, published in an organisation's own structured data, of the profiles it claims elsewhere. Every page on this site carries that list already.
This page is the human half of it. A claim a reader can check is one an assistant will repeat, and the same set of links written out where people can see them is how you notice that a profile went dead, which no one has ever spotted inside a JSON-LD blob.
If you are doing this for your own site, the order matters: create the profile, fill it in properly, and only then add it tosameAs. A list that points at an empty or missing profile is worse than a short list, because it is a claim that does not check out. Our free structured data checker reads the list back off any page.
Questions about sameAs and entity claims
What is sameAs in structured data?
A property in an organisation's schema listing the profiles it claims elsewhere: its LinkedIn, its GitHub, its directory listings. It exists to resolve identity. Without it a search engine or assistant has to guess whether the company named on a review site is the same one publishing a given website, and on a common name it will frequently guess wrong.
Does sameAs help AI visibility?
Indirectly, and the mechanism is worth understanding. Generative answers lean heavily on third party corroboration, so a brand described in several independent places reads as established. That only works if the model can tell the descriptions are all about one entity, and sameAs is how you state that rather than leave it to inference.
How many profiles should sameAs list?
Every one you genuinely hold, and not one more. There is no threshold that unlocks anything, and length is not the signal. A short accurate list beats a long one containing a profile that 404s, because a link that does not resolve is a claim that does not check out on a property whose entire job is establishing that your claims do.
Should I add a profile to sameAs before filling it in?
No. Create the profile, complete it properly, confirm it resolves publicly, and only then claim it. An empty profile in a sameAs list points a machine at a page that says nothing about you, which is a weaker signal than the profile's absence would have been.
How do I check what a page claims?
Read the structured data back off it. Our free structured data checker parses any URL and shows the Organization node including the sameAs list, which is also the fastest way to see what a competitor claims. Then open each link, because valid markup and a live profile are different things and only one of them is checkable by a parser.
